The province of Benevento is Campania's largest producer of quality wine.
The vineyards of Fattoria La Rivolta are located in the sub-zone of Taburno, the mountain from which valleys covered with a sea of vineyards can be seen. This area, along with nearby Taurasi, is particularly known for its high-quality grape cultivation. The climate is typically harsh in winter and warm in summer with cool nocturnal temperatures and an almost constant northerly wind throughout the year. All this makes for an optimum production area, with healthy grapes rich in extracts and aromas.
The land of Fattoria La Rivolta has been in the hands of the Cotroneo family for about 150 years, but 1997 was the turning point that led to the removal of grapes not typical of the region, while the replanting of local grapes began. Also, a three-year conversion to an organic system was completed in 2000 with the attainment of the European Organic Certification and since 2011 the vineyards and cellar have been voluntarily enrolled in the most rigorous control system for organic wine-making of the Swiss Delinat Institute.
Edmond's pick, "Sogno di Rivolta", was born out of a dream to create a unique white wine. It is a "reserve" resulting from the blend of Falanghina (50%), Fiano di Avellino (25%) and Greco di Tufo (25%) grape varieties.
With its clear gold yellow colour, "Sogno di Rivolta" is an organic white wine offering a remarkably neat nose, with distinct scents of citrus, pear, melon, exotic fruits, broom, and nuances of sage and white pepper. Medium in body, mineral, with nice freshness mingling with honey and almond end notes.
Aged for 5 months in small oak barrels (barriques).
