The Sangiovese grape variety is at the heart of Orcia red wines, as might be expected for a Tuscan DOC. This fi ne, full-bodied red wine is a blend of Sangiovese (65%) and Foglia Tonda (35%). The Foglia Tonda is an old grape variety which hails from Tuscany and was abandoned about a century ago. It is said to grow now only in the Chianti and Orcia regions where it adds colour and body to Sangiovese based wines. Cenerentola, the Italian name for Cinderella, is so named because the young Orcia DOC has two richer and more famous stepsisters... the world renowned Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG whose vineyards are both situated near the Orcia region. Dark ruby red; nose of cherry, blackcurrant, plum and tobacco; full-bodied with smooth tannins, long fi nish. Aged for one year in oak barrels. Best served at 18° C.
